About the WDRA
The World Dirt Racing
Association (WDRA) was founded in 2001 by Jeff Rupert. The purpose was,
and still is to unify rules and present a touring series for regional
dirt oval racers.
The WDRA Super Dirt Series sanctions a
series of dirt oval events throughout New York and Pennsylvania. In
2007, 12 different tracks will host WDRA events. The series is
comprised of 3 divisions of Eastern Dirt Modified (EDM) style cars. All
classes are for electric cars, although individual tracks may choose to
add nitro-powered vehicles in additional classes. These will not race
for WDRA points. A breakdown of divisions included in the series is as
follows:
· EDM
Modified – This is the WDRA’s fastest division, and features expert
drivers. While the chassis and body specifications are the same as the
other classes, these cars basically have no motor restrictions.
· EDM
Big Block Stock – This division is the most competitive, with expert
drivers. Motors are restricted to industry standard “stock” motors.
Side-by-side is the norm here.
· EDM
Small Block Stock – This class operates under the same specifications as
Big Block Stock. Drivers in this class are of an intermediate skill
level. This allows these drivers to hone their skills, while still
being able to compete for a win, and participate in a series of their
own.
